Concrete Driveway in Philadelphia

Trade your cracked driveway for one you're proud to pull into.

Your driveway takes a beating every day. Cars roll over it, rain soaks it, and winter tries to tear it apart. A concrete driveway gives you a solid, clean surface that handles all of it and makes your home look sharp from the street. Dependable Concrete builds new driveways and replaces worn-out ones for homeowners across the city. We've done it since 1984.

Signs It's Time for a New Driveway

Take a walk down your driveway and look closely. Watch for:

  • Cracks that keep getting wider or longer
  • Chipped, flaking or crumbling spots on the surface
  • Sections that have sunk, lifted or tilted
  • Puddles that sit after every rain
  • Weeds pushing up through the gaps

One small crack isn't always a big deal. But cracks let water in, and water makes everything worse. If you're seeing several of these signs, it's time to get it looked at. A free estimate costs you nothing and tells you where you stand.

How We Approach the Job

We keep it simple and do it right. First we break out the old concrete and haul it away. Then we prepare the ground underneath so the new slab sits on a firm, even base. A driveway is only as strong as what's under it.

Next we set the forms that shape the edges. We pour the concrete and smooth the surface. We also slope it so rainwater runs off instead of pooling. We offer exposed aggregate, and we add dye to darken the concrete so it doesn't dry to a bright white. We pour 4000 PSI concrete with fiber mesh mixed in for strength. Driveways are poured 5 inches thick, or 6 inches if heavy trucks will be parked on them.

Many homeowners pair a new driveway with a fresh concrete curb or a matching concrete walkway to the front door. Doing it all at once gives your property one clean, finished look.

Built for Philadelphia Homes and Winters

Philadelphia isn't a new subdivision. Many of the homes we work on are older rowhomes, twins and stone houses. Driveways here can be narrow, tucked behind the house, or squeezed into tight spaces. We look at your property in person and plan the job around it.

Our winters are tough on concrete. Water seeps into small cracks, freezes, expands, and splits the concrete apart. Then it thaws and does it all over again. That freeze-thaw cycle is why a concrete driveway in Philadelphia needs good drainage and a solid base from day one.

We know these streets. Dependable Concrete is based in Chestnut Hill, and we work throughout Mt. Airy, Germantown, Roxborough and all over Philadelphia. We want your driveway to fit the character of your block and your home. We pull the permit for you.

FAQs

Q: Can you fix my driveway instead of replacing it?

A: Sometimes. If the surface is worn but the slab underneath is solid, resurfacing can make it look new again. If it's cracked through or sinking, replacing it is usually the better call. We'll tell you straight at your free estimate.

Q: How long before I can drive on my new driveway?

A: You can walk on it the next day, and drive on it after 5 days. How long the job takes depends on the size of the driveway. We'll give you the timing for your job before we pour.

Q: Can you do my curb or walkway at the same time?

A: Yes. Curbs and walkways often go hand in hand with a new driveway. Ask about it when we come out.

Q: What areas do you serve?

A: All of Philadelphia, especially Chestnut Hill, Mt. Airy, Germantown and Roxborough.
